tile samples

My companion employs her excellent design sense to assist me in selecting suitable tiles for the countertops, backsplash, and bar. I am unable to convince her that the roll of tape is for ventilation shaft repairs, and will not attract any waterfowl.

a delightfully functional kitchen

A kitchen does not require elegant countertops to produce delectable morsels for my consumption. I am attempting to teach my human the proper food-preparation technique, but he insists on the use of duct tape. Furthermore, he does not acknowledge that, by tapping the contents of the bowl, I have claimed these dainties for the feline residents of the house.

Your author, inspecting the countertop underlayers

Backerboard, screwed onto plywood, with thinset between the layers. It's nice to be able to walk on the countertops again. They tell me there will be granite tile laid over this eventually.

countertop progress

At last we can see what the bar will look like, now that the plywood underlayer and support brackets have been installed. Though I enjoyed performing a balance-beam routine along the top of the unfinished half-wall, I am compensated by this fine location in which I can recline and watch my humans prepare meals.

thinset mortar for countertop backerboard

The humans torment me by smearing wonderful squishy mud on the countertops, then refusing to allow me to create a footprint work of art. Perhaps I shall wait till their backs are turned, and use this substance to create a footprint opus on the white carpet below.

language lessons

I despair of ever being able to communicate with my humans as fully as I do with you, dear readers. But there is hope. When rewarded with appropriate food and beverages, the long-tailed human shows willingness to study and learn my native tongue.
